“With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.” Psalm 18:29
I love it when I read of the Lord God’s help that is given to us all who! When I read this verse, I was reminded of all the walls this ministry has been encountering whenever we try to get inside of the correctional institutions. We hear that the lack of staffing is awful or there is a lack of space. We also get told of all the things we cannot bring in. Here David reminds us that we can overcome the challenges we face through fervent prayer. The Lord will give us guidance as we navigate through the issues and patiently wait for when He says it is time to go in. The Lord God will help us scale the walls to get inside when the timing is right even though many of us would prefer it to be sooner. Let’s trust in God and His will in this matter. While we are waiting though, we know we also need to be prepared for the day when we are told we can go inside.
While you are praying about your involvement in Kairos Prison Ministry and you find that you do not know enough about Kairos Prison Ministry International and it’s programs, please reach out to me, Carlene Griffith and either myself or someone else who is knowledgeable can be available to help you. I can also find others or myself to come speak at any Christian function or Christian church to help educate and spread the word.
Remember, Christ forgave us of our sins and showed us mercy and has called us to do the same for all who have made bad choices in their lives. Wouldn’t it be great if we can reach them while inside to change their hearts and way of thinking so they will become productive citizens and not end up back in the system where most of the tax money in this state is going? More importantly though, to introduce them to the Lord God and Father who loves them and wants them to be part of the Christian family.
Won’t you consider praying about how you can contribute to the success of this ministry? I highly encourage you to search https://kairosprisonministry.org/testimonies/. Here you will find awesome stories of how this ministry has transformed lives of those who had no hope. Also, there are videos from past Annual Conferences that are quite moving and so much more!
I want you to know there is so much to be thankful for as we see Christ at work in this ministry! Even though it does not seem like there is much going on right now, God is still at work. Would you please join us as we sing praises to the Lord for what He is doing in the state of Wisconsin and around the world?
• Let us praise the Lord for the dedication of the State Committee and Advisory Councils in following the Lord’s guidance by sticking with Kairos Prison Ministry rules and procedures that have proven to work.
• Praise God for the planning that is happening for the 9 th Kairos Outside Weekend which will be held at Spencer Lake Christian Center near Waupaca on September 26-28, 2025.
• Praise God for the funds to send a volunteer to Advanced Kairos Training in August.
• We praise God for the volunteers who have contacted the Kairos Outside Weekend Leader to help with the Weekend team. More are needed.
• We praise God for His encouragement of the Kairos Inside Advisory Council for Ellsworth to persevere in building an even better relationship with the Chaplain and Warden. They are still working on logistics of a possible Weekend and continuing ministry.
• We praise God for the provisions He has given to help the executive team for Kairos Prison Ministry International in rebuilding their offices. They can now focus more on the ministry and getting ready for the Annual Conference to be held in Augusta, GA this year on July 23-26th . Please let us know if you would like to go.
• We praise God for new opportunities to spread the word about this ministry and to recruit more new people.
• We praise God for the smooth transition that has taken place with our new state financial secretary to keep the financial piece of this ministry going. As you know, the power of prayer is extremely powerful and your prayers are why we have more to praise God for than what I listed above. It would be good to know what you need prayer for so we can send extra requests to the Lord with you. But in the meantime, please continue to help us pray for:
• The staffing issues that plague so many institutions in our country and around the world.
• The hearts and minds of wardens and chaplains to be open to this new program that works with their institutions to make them safer for staff.
• The guidance of the State Committee and the Advisory Councils to make decisions that the Lord would want us to make.
• Volunteers to come forward to help in open positions on the Advisory Councils and on the Kairos Outside Team.
• The Lord to lead women whose lives have been impacted by incarceration to register as guests for the next Kairos Outside Weekend.
• The funds to come in soon so that we can pay for a booth at Lifest in Oshkosh in July, possibly be a sponsor for a LifeSurge event in Milwaukee on June 28th and to send the State Chair to the annual conference.
• The health and safety of our volunteers as they minister to those people who are in need. When you take some quiet time to listen to God and you hear him nudging you to help with Kairos Prison Ministry, please act upon it. You will not regret it! Many of us have been so blessed by our decision to answer the calling! If you think you are not qualified or know enough to help, good news! We can have you trained and there are mentors willing to help you along the way. Please know there is no position that is better than another because every thing is ministry!

If you want to know what we believe and stand for … We in Kairos believe: The people of Kairos are called by God to share the love of Christ with those impacted by incarceration. Kairos encourages believers from a variety of Christian traditions to be volunteers in this Christ-filled ministry. Kairos programs offer to prison residents, their families, and those who work with them, the opportunity to receive God’s forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ, and to grow in their faith and servant hood in Christian community. We stand on the common ground of the following elements of faith: The Bible is God’s authoritative and inspired word for our faith and our lives. In the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In the deity, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Friendship with God is a free gift, for God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. The love of Jesus Christ motivates His followers to provide food for the hungry, drink to the thirsty, welcome to the stranger, clothes for the naked and visits to the sick and those in prison. In sharing the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ with all incarcerated individuals, their families and to those who work with them inside and outside the correctional institution.
